BREAKOUT SESSIONS PROPOSAL SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
NOTE: THERE ARE THREE-HOUR BREAKOUT SESSIONS ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE CONFERENCE AND ONE-HOUR BREAKOUT SESSIONS ON THE SECOND AND THIRD DAYS.
➢ CHOOSE A CONFERENCE TRACK:
o Communications and Advancement: Designed for heads and trustees as well as communication and advancement practitioners, this session(s) addresses what it takes to ensure effective communication to – and relating with – all key constituencies.
o Governance: Designed for trustees and heads of schools in their roles as liaisons with the board. These workshops focus on all aspects of board governance.
o Leadership Development: Designed for heads and all academic and administrative leaders, these workshops focus on effective school leadership and professional development.
o Management: Designed primarily for heads, business officers, finance officers, departmental heads. These workshops focus on the day-to-day management of people, programs, finance, enrollment, the market, and operations.
o The Classroom Experience: Designed for all educators and academic leaders, these workshops focus on design and implementation of academic programs.
o The Student Experience: Designed for all educators and academic leaders, these workshops focus on the student experience. These may include bullying, student wellness, families, and character development.
SUMMARY OF YOUR PROPOSAL
Your proposal should please contain the following:
➢ Presentation Title
➢ Description (300 words): This is a longer description for you to explain the idea behind your workshop
➢ Conference Program Abstract (100 words): This is a short description that will be used for marketing purposes.
➢ Three (3) Learning Objectives
➢ What is new and unique about your session? (50 words)
➢ Knowledge Level
o Introductory – customized for attendee with little or limited knowledge about this topic.
o Intermediate – designed for attendees with some experience in this content area, who are eager to know more.
o Advanced – tailored to attendees with a high level of knowledge and experience with this subject matter.
➢ For Whom
➢ Engagment: How will you engage your audience? Please choose up to 3 options.
Case Study Exercise
THOSE INTERESTED IN FACILITATING THE 3-HOUR SESSION ON THE 1ST OF NOVEMBER, 2017 SHOULD PLEASE PROVIDE A TENTATIVE OUTLINE (E.G STARTER ACTIVITIES) OF HOW YOU WILL SPEND YOUR THREE HOURS, INCLUDING TIME ESTIMATES FOR EACH PORTION OF THE AGENDA.
Q. What information should I prepare? Please view the sample submissions at the top of this page to see what information you need to prepare, including word limits. Make sure to also collect all the information for your co-presenters before you start the submission process, if applicable.
Q. What is the submission and review process? Submissions are now open through September 22. After that time, a team of reviewers will assess all proposals and final decisions will be made, according to our review criteria.
Q. Who can submit a proposal? As long as you have a topic you think is relevant to the target audience at the conference, we welcome you to please submit a proposal. Please note that the target audience are School Owners’/Trustees, Heads of School, School Administrators, Teachers and Parents. If selected, solicitation or promotion of services during your workshop presentation is strictly prohibited.
Q. When will I know if I’ve been accepted? Notifications will be emailed out in October to the main submitter.
